I am a full time bilingual/bicultural clinical psychologist based at the Treasure Island Job Corps Wellness Center with a special interest in minority adolescent mental health care. I am responsible for providing and directing the mental health services for 800 at risk adolescents and young adults ages 16-24. I also provide training and consultation on adolescent mental health and drug and alcohol use to the 200 plus Job Corp staff including two drug and alcohol counselors and twelve vocational counselors and training on adolescent development and mental health to the professional and paraprofessional staff of Treasure Island Job Corps approximately 200 plus staff. I developed a clinical practicum placement for third and fourth year graduate students in clinical psychology; since, I was unable to provide for the high need of mental health services of the large population of minority adolescents primarily of African American, Latino and Asian cultural backgrounds at Job Corps. With the help of practicum students, services have expanded to include therapeutic and psycho-educational groups in addition to short and long term individual therapy.
