Shana Millstein, MS, PhD

Dr. Millstein is Professor in the Department of Pediatrics at UCSF, a research consultant to the California School of Professional Psychology, and an affiliated faculty member of the Stanford University Center on Adolescence.  Dr. Millstein’s research has focused on health-related decision making, risk perception and judgment, and health promotion.  She has been the recipient of numerous research grants and awards and has published widely on issues such as adolescent risk taking, women’s reproductive health, delivery of health services, decision-making, and infertility. Dr. Millstein serves as a frequent policy advisor to foundations and federal agencies and has been active in a variety of national activities related to health promotion and prevention.  Her most recent research projects have involved (1) treatment-related decision making in infertile couples and (2) the effects of stress on neurocognitive function and decision making in adolescent males.
