Giving

Monetary donations of any size are greatly appreciated by the Pediatric Rehabilitation Team.  General donations are accepted as well as donations specified for a specific purpose (such as purchasing equipment for the therapy gym).  If you would like to give the gift of a specific item, we would happily accept children’s books, resources for parents, wheelchairs, disability strollers and car seats, new bicycle helmets, safety toys, puzzles, and the like.  We would also love to decorate our therapy gym with original child-appropriate artwork that focuses on children in recovery and other happy scenes.

Perhaps the greatest gifts a patient or family member can give are the gifts of knowledge and support.  If you are willing to be on a contact list for families in need of support, please email your name, contact information and information about your child’s or your condition to PedsRehab@peds.ucsf.edu.  We would like to help families with new diagnoses find support.  Sometimes, another family with a similar set of circumstances can be a valuable asset.  If you decide to add your name to the list, we will contact you prior to giving your name to a family in need of support.  Please note, the contact list will not be posted on the website, and will managed by the Medical Director and Nurse Coordinator because maintaining your privacy is important to us.

"We see Bethany at the UCSF Spina Bifida Clinic. She is a very special young lady who has been raising money for the Spina Bifida Program. Through her efforts we have been able to purchase erasers for the chalkboards, stickers and coloring books for the clinic. We are very grateful for her generosity. "

-Amy Houtrow, MD, MPH and Cindy Lazzaretti, RN

“I raise money for UCSF Clinic because I want the kid's stay to be pleasant. If there is cool activities in the playroom it will take their mind off what's going to happen at the appointment. When they get called to the room they could still have their mind on the really cool activity and forget what's happening in the room.”

- Bethany Susan Harper ( age 9 )

If you have any questions about giving, please do not hesitate to contact us at PedsRehab@peds.ucsf.edu.
