Carol A. Glaser, DVM, MPVM, MD

| Carol’s primary job is as Medical Officer and Chief of
the Viral and Rickettsial Disease Laboratory (VRDL) at
the Department of Health Services, State of California.
She consults with clinicians and local public health
departments throughout the State about unusual
illnesses (especially those with presumed viral etiology)
and assists them with diagnostic testing. She oversees
a state-wide encephalitis project and West Nile human
surveillance. She has a special interest in zoonotic
diseases as well as encephalitis.
