General Pediatrics
The General Pediatrics Fellowship Program has been training academic general pediatricians for the last two decades. The fellowship is a two-year training program designed to provide General Pediatrics Fellows with health services, clinical and epidemiologic research training, as well as an overview of child health issues. Research programs in the Division of General Pediatrics focus on primary public health prevention of disease, issues with public health screening and point-of-care testing, treatment of chronic disease, primary care practice management, innovation in clinical medical education, and early newborn care. The goal of the General Pediatrics Fellowship Program is to prepare clinician-researchers and clinician educators for a career in academic pediatrics. The program provides a curriculum in research and education evaluation training, opportunities for research collaboration with and mentorship from UCSF faculty, opportunities to present research at regular forums, and opportunities for clinical teaching and care with UCSF residents and medical students. Application Process and Selection Criteria The application process begins 12 months before candidates seek entrance into the Program. Appointments are effective July 1 each year. Early contact with the Program Director is encouraged to determine any institutional circumstance that requires completion of the application process in the early part of the period.
