![]() Jeffrey R. Fineman, MD Professor of Pediatrics Investigator, Cardiovascular Research Institute Fellowship Director, Pediatric Critical Care Program Dr. Fineman received his medical degree from the New York University School of Medicine. He completed pediatric residency at NYU/Bellevue Medical Center, followed by critical care fellowship at UCSF, prior to the merger of programs with Children's Oakland. Dr. Fineman’s leads an NIH funded laboratory focusing on the investigation of the regulation of the pulmonary circulation and pulmonary hypertensive disorders. To study the role of the vascular endothelium in maintaining pulmonary vascular tone in health and disease states, his laboratory uses an animal model of congenital heart disease. In addition, Dr. Fineman directs clinical-translational projects investigating molecules with potential as biomarkers to predict outcome after cardiothoracic surgery for congenital heart disease and is involved in clinical projects investigating agents for therapy and prevention of pulmonary hypertension. In addition to being the fellowship director, Dr. Fineman is the principal investigator of an NIH T32 Award to support Research Training in Pediatric Critical Care Medicine.
