
Mission Statement 
The Pediatric Diversity Committee is committed to recruiting and supporting pediatric residents, fellows, and faculty underrepresented in medicine, as well as fostering a culture that promotes and values diversity though community, education, training, and research.
Goals
Recruiting and supporting pediatric residents, fellows and faculty underrepresented in medicine (UIM):
- Identify and increase the number of UIM faculty in the Department of Pediatrics
- Improve recruitment of UIM residents and fellows
- Participate in recruitment of UIM residents and fellows through interviews, informal meetings, and serving as a resource
- Support diversity efforts within the Department of Pediatrics through education, local and national conferences, and social events
- Contribute to and support UCSF and GME wide diversity efforts
- Encourage mentorship of UIM medical students, residents, and fellows
Fostering a culture that promotes and values diversity:
- Sponsor and encourage educational talks pertaining to diversity and cultural competency (e.g. Pediatrics Grand Rounds and a lecture series)
- Support and participate in pipeline programs, advocacy and service efforts in the community
- Create a visiting student program for Pediatrics and/or actively support the creation of a UCSF-wide visiting student program
- Engage in University, GME, and School of Medicine initiatives and programs to increase diversity at UCSF
